Foodworks: Norton Nursery

Food Works Sheffield is a community-led organisation working to create a fair and sustainable food system for everyone. This project brings together images made for a book celebrating the organisation’s anniversary, documenting the people and places that make this work possible, from the growers at Norton Nurseries to the communities finding practical, hopeful ways to change how food is grown and shared.

Growing food locally is central to a sustainable food system. Based in a former council glasshouse, Norton Nurseries is both a growing and learning space, supporting community food production, research, and partnerships with the University of Sheffield. At its heart, this work is about Sheffield becoming a sustainable food city, growing more food locally, making it more accessible, and building knowledge and community around food.
