Beyond The Label:

Neurodiversity in Sports

Athletes are often defined by their achievements, but their identities, challenges, and lived experiences tell a much richer story. This photographic portrait series explores that depth, capturing powerful imagery alongside personal narratives from athletes ranging from university-level competitors to Olympic champions. The project challenges traditional perceptions of success in sports, highlighting the resilience, identity, and unique strengths that neurodiversity brings to the athletic world.

Created in collaboration with Neurodiverse Sport, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2022 by former Olympic rower Caragh McMurtry and elite cyclist Mikey Mottram - this project aligns with their mission to make sport a space where neurodivergent athletes can engage, compete, and thrive with confidence.
